E54: The Power of the Picture w/”Captain Voyager” James Wanless, Ph.D.

Author, “Edutainer” and Tarot Reader James Wanless joined us for a fun and interesting conversation about intuition, Tarot, and his unique and fascinating life. James, who is also playfully known as “Captain Pick-a-Card,” is the creator of the Voyager Tarot deck, designed in the early 80’s with vibrant ancient and contemporary imagery that is more relevant for the 21st Century human.

“Voyager Tarot shows you how to achieve your visions and dreams- creating the success you desire. Use the deck as an intuitive guide to forecast your future- reveal secrets of your subconscious and provide spiritual inspiration. This excellent decision-making tool can help you navigate life- enhancing business planning- relationship building and self-discovery.” (james-wanless.com)

Whether or not you have in interest in Tarot, we know you will love this conversation because it goes much wider and deeper than that subject alone. While they do take a deep dive into what Tarot is all about and its usefulness as a personal development and insight tool (including several readings for the Au Team), they also discuss self-trust, the power of hormones, and “Edutainment.”

E53: Shame in Sheep’s Clothing & Warrior Women w/Petalyn Albert

Did you know that shame is the first emotion presented in the bible? Our great friend and compassionate, deep thinker Petalyn Albert returns for another fascinating conversation with Carlos and Satch. This time around they have a deep and meaningful conversation about the relationship between shame, forgiveness and compassion, and the ways shame often shows up dressed as other things.

Petalyn also shares some of her fascinating thoughts and ideas about the archetype of the Warrior Woman and a new project she is working on to help guide women who identify with or relate to this archetype through the process of gracefully, authentically and unapologetically embodying this way of being for a more fulfilling life.

You’ll also get to hear one of Oliver’s fun, funky and clever songs created from some things Petalyn said in her previous episode!

Episode #38: John Kim Used to Be a Miserable F*ck

In the aftermath of heartbreak and divorce, John Kim discovered a passion to help others and went from an aspiring screenwriter to pursuing a career as a licensed therapist. To process his feelings and frustrations during that time, he began documenting his hero’s journey in a blog he titled The Angry Therapist.

“Why am I angry? Because the system is broken”

While working with troubled youth to collect his required hours for certification, he began to notice a painfully common theme among them: the physically and/or emotionally absent father. Because this rang true for him as well, his passions focused toward studying men’s issues, masculinity, and what it really means to “be a man.”

In this episode he shares about his own upbringing and experiences that have led him toward cultivating his own definition of “being a man. He believes every man must craft this definition for himself. He ultimately wrote a (soon to be released) book about it, titled: I Used to Be a Miserable F*ck: An Everyman’s Guide to a Meaningful Life.

The discussion also turns to the challenges of dating in the present social climate, the importance of “tribe” while on a path of self-betterment, why it’s ok to feel anger, and why dogs are the best therapists.

“I love the word Tribe because I think the greatest misconception about self-help is the word self. We actually are not meant to do life alone.”

Whether you’re a man, a woman, or neither, this episode definitely has something for you. We really love this one and are so curious to know your thoughts and feelings about it, too. We can see some great discussion coming from this one, please come back and share after you have a listen.

Episode #29: Ontological Flexibility & Spiral Somatics w/James Tsakalos

With the world in conflict and various forms of existential angst building walls of emotional tension all around us, what can we do about it? How can we steal the fire from conflict and open ourselves to richer set of responses? Is it possible to learn to experience and ‘do’ the world differently? How can we expand our flexibility the feeling and somatic level to really grasp other ways of living and being? James Tsakalos is the only person in the world teaching something called, ‘Spiral Somatics’ and in this episode we dive right into the thick of it. What is it? Where did it originate from? Why is it needed? How can you learn it? How is it applied? These and many other questions are explored as Satch and Carlos interview James (who lives in Melbourne, AU) via Zoom video conference.
